In our current era of conflict between reliable fossil-fuel and increased demand for clean renewable energy production, energy policies are being stretched and challenged in all conceivable manners turning the policymaking process into an equilibrist exercise, juggling between pragmatism, climate change compliance, and cost efficiency. As there is no single Arctic, there are significant contrasts in energy policies, ranging from Iceland with its extensive use of renewable energies to Russia with its sizeable development and use of nuclear energy.
